Happy birthday to you Kareena Kapoor

KAREENA KAPOOR BIOGRAPHY
Kareena Kapoor was born to Sindhi-speaking Babita and Punjabi-speaking Randhir Kapoor on September 21, 1980 in Bombay, India. She has an elder sister, Karisma. She was born into a family which had actors for generations, including her paternal great-grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor; her grandfather, Raj Kapoor; her paternal uncles, Shammi, Shashi, Rishi, and Rajiv; as well as aunt, Neetu Singh and Jennifer Kendall, the wives of Rishi and Shashi, respectively. On her maternal side, her grandfather, Hari Shivdasani, and aunt, Sadhana, have been actors in their own rights.

As a child, she studied in Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu, Bombay, and thereafter was enrolled in Dehra Dun's prestigious Welham Girls' Boarding School. Then she re-located to Harvard for approximately 3 months to take a course in Information Technology and Microcomputers. Upon her return to India, she joined the Government Law College in Churchgate, Bombay, but left it after one year to enroll in the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting School.

Her dad, Randhir is very protective towards his daughters and wanted both of them to keep away from acting, get married and settle down, as per the Kapoor family tradition. This led to irreconcilable differences between her parents, ultimately leading to a divorce, with both sisters leaving their dad to live with their mom.

Her film debut was in the year 2000 with 'Refugee' along with the debut of Amitabh Bachchan's son, Abhishek. She is one of the most sought-after actresses in Bollywood, considered bankable, with an enviable A-listing.

Duke Cat Bio

“I try to make visiting Peaches a part of my daily walk,” says Meksem. “It’s great because she’s everyone’s pet, and everyone gets to take care of her.”

The cat started her Duke life in 2016 as an untamed and unnamed stray. Some students and faculty created their own names for the homeless cat, and helped her when they could.

“I have always had stray or feral cats and feel responsible for them,” says Choro Carla Antonaccio, professor emerita of classical studies. She was one of the first on campus to help the stray cat. “They are domesticated animals that have shown up on my doorstep because someone didn’t want them or keep them safe.”

Most folks who spotted the stray referred to her simply as “the calico cat.” Anna Li ’18 did the same. In the fall of 2016, Li was walking on West Campus when she spotted the calico relaxing regally on the quad, indifferent to the semester’s deadlines.

“She used to follow me around campus, waiting outside while I got food from Pitchfork’s and staring at me from the window until I brought it back out to share with her,” says Li. “We went on strolls in Duke Gardens together, and she’d just follow me.”

That winter, the temperature dropped below freezing and Li worried about her new friend. She started a Facebook group, as an organized effort to assist the small cat and a larger calico, believed to be her sister or mother. A poll on Facebook provided the name “Peaches.” One caretaker, Anna Matthews ’19, named the larger calico “Mamabean.” The Facebook group, Caretakers of Peaches (The Calico Cat), also attends to more crucial matters.

“I thought it was going to be a group of maybe ten nerdy cat lovers or something, but the group really exploded. It has about 1,600 members now,” says Li.

Volunteers and donors—a collection of students, alumni, staff, faculty, retirees, and even some Duke parents—have provided two heated cat homes, food, water bowls, and funds for veterinary care. Although she now lives in Seattle with her cat “Kitty,” Li continues to organize and advise the Facebook group, while group administrators in Durham, like senior Emmy Mariner, are hands on. Mariner transports Peaches and Mamabean to a veterinary clinic for vaccinations and responds to emergencies. Cat colony care groups across campus work together by sharing information. They collaborate with Independent Animal Rescue, which operates a spay and neuter program. Matthews and other caretakers also organize off-campus homes for Peaches and Mamabean when hurricanes blow through, like Dorian in early September. It’s a lot of work, but Mariner says as much as students help the cats, the cats give much more in return.

It's s Almost 4 Years now Since he Passed Ali Banat Bio

It's almost 4 years now since he passed away but cannot be forgotten because of his good deeds and acts may Allah Grant us the means and heart to do good..
Ameen 🤲
THE STORY OF ALI BANAT

Ali Banat is a sydney born who was diagnosed with Cancer and doctors have given him only 7 months to live. Despite his circumstances, he considers this a gift from Allah.

Ali Banat, is a young man who, in his own words, was “gifted” with a stage 4 cancer throughout his body. He was given just a few months to live but took this great test as an opportunity to change his life. Upon receiving this news he immediately sold his business, gave up his lavish lifestyle and prized possessions and began a new mission to give up his Dunya and work for his Akhira.

Ali has humbly dedicated the remainder of his life to helping those who are far less fortunate than him and in doing so, set up the charity MATW Project (Muslims Around The World) which has already changed the lives of so many.

His charity concentrated initially in Togo 🇹🇬 but spread to other mainly African countries like Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 , Ghana 🇬🇭 and Benin 🇧🇯. He came to aid needy people in villages, including building of water wells, educational facilities, community development and income generating projects, food aid, in addition to building of schools, orphanages, facilities for widowed women and their children and in building and repairing of mosques.

Being diagnosed with cancer is like death sentence for many. But this is not the way Australian Muslim Ali Ali Banat sees it. For him, the sickness is unquestionably a gift from Allah.

“At this point in my life, Alhamdulillah I have been gifted by Allah with cancer throughout my body and I have changed my whole life to helping people,” he said.

When asked why he called the illness a gift from the Allah, the sobbing Ali Banat said the disease was opportunity for transformation.

“Alhamdulillah it is a gift because Allah has given me a chance to change,”

he tells Mohamed Hoblos from Living Muslim, wiping tears streaming from his eyes.”

Despite having the dreaded disease all over his body, Ali Banat psyched himself for the day he will breathe his last.

He got rid of his cars, a fleet that comprises of Ferrari Spider, and had to do away with his expensive watches as he was determined to shun the worldly life in preparation for the day he shall depart the earth.

“I got rid of my cars, I got rid of my watches, even my clothes I took them overseas and gave them to a lot of people out there.
“I wanted to try to leave this world without anything,” said Ali Banat.

A trip to his room shows the luxurious lifestyle which Ali Banat was living, from designer bracelets that cost around $60 000, expensive watches, designers sunglasses and top of the range sneakers – some of which has made way to under-priviledged communities in Africa.

No love for this world

Gazing at his Ferrari parked on the driveway, Ali Banat says his interest in the materialistic possessions has vanished.

“Driving something like this doesn’t really cross my mind anymore. It’s not something I want to do anymore."
“After someone tells you, or you find out that you are sick or haven’t got much time in this life, wallahi this is the last thing you want to chase and this is how we should be living our life every day,” said Ali Banat as he advised people chasing worldly objects.

“These people are going for the wrong goals; you will realize that when you get sick when someone tells you, you haven’t got long to live.
“You will realize all this stuff doesn’t benefit you in anyway.”

Messages of support from Muslims across the world have been sent to Ali Banat, who has established a charity organization that has constructed a masjid and school in Africa, which will serve as continuing charity when he passes on.

He said the idea of establishing the charity organization, Muslims Around the World Project, was born out of realization that when he dies all his wealth will remain except for his deeds.

“It all started when I went to the cemetery where a brother that had cancer had passed away. And I was at the cemetery and I was thinking to myself after you go there’s nothing, there’s no one there for you, no mother, no father, no brother, no sister except for your deeds,” explaining that even the wealth also disappears.

“Even your money, is not going to be there for you so the only thing that’s going to be there for you is sadaqa (charity) and that’s the only thing that’s going to help you gradually through your time in the grave until you get to your ultimate destination.”

Ali Banat who has been spending most of his time visiting the cemetery in preparation for his death told Living Muslim he’s ready for the angel of death to take his soul.

“I have been advised by one of the brothers to take a special drug, to help me with pain and stuff and subhanallah it’s very strong. I took a bit too much and came into a whole different world as in not knowing where I was."

“It was very hard for me, and subhanallah I actually seen things I have never seen before and my family were all there standing around me and I was pointing up and I was saying ‘Ya Allah take me’.
“It was that beautiful what I was seeing, I just wanted to go, and the next day subhanallah I wake up and I was upset that Allah didn’t take me,” said Ali Banat with eyes filled with tears in his last  video "Alhamdulillah I passed away"
Ali Banat was thanking Allah with tears filled in his eyes knowing that he's dead but alive. SAD!

I don't think we bowled well

Rohit Sharma | India captain: I don’t think we bowled well. 208 is a good score to defend, and we didn’t take our chances in the field. It was a great effort from our batters, but bowlers were not quite there. There are things we need to look at, but it was a great game for us to understand what went wrong. We know this is a high-scoring ground. You can’t relax even if you get 200. We took wickets to an extent, but they played really well. They played some extra-ordinary shots. If I was in that changing room, I would expect to chase that total. You can back yourself to defend 60 runs in the final 4 overs. We were not able to take that extra wicket. That was the turning point, if we would have taken another wicket, things would have been different. You can’t score 200 everyday, you need to bat well. Hardik batted really well to get us there. We need to look at our bowling before the next game.
Matthew Wade: I would like to make it a habit (of finishing games). It has been a nice 12-18 months, started to put some scores together and put a partnership with Tim David today, he has come down the order with those (finishing) roles. It is nice to get some youth and power like him which gives me time to start. At this ground it didn’t worry too much (to get going from the first ball), anywhere between 10-14 runs per over with wickets in hand we could probably chase it down, obviously the guys at the top of order got us off to a great start. If it gets to 13 runs per over early on then there’s a bit of panic but towards the end with a wicket like this and outifield like this you kinda back yourself. You have to work where they are going to bowl, they went wide yorker with a cover and I didn’t want to drag it too much to the leg-side and the slower balls I sat a little bit deeper. Often I have four fielders back on the leg-side and I cannot just swing to the leg-side anymore, I need to play some shots on the off-side. Green was always going to open, it was nice to see him come out and do that. He is a really exciting allrounder and he will play a role with the ball as well. There were some crucial roles through that (early) period and Smith played really well to keep the pressure up.

India vs Australia Series Frist T20 7:30 pm Start

India Reviews
India disappointed its fans in the recent tournament Asia Cup. They are the most successful team in the Asia Cup and had won the most titles in this tournament. This was very rare as they could not even qualify for the final. They lost important matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. India had made some changes in the squad for this home series against Australia but almost 95% of the players are the same who were part of the side in the Asia Cup. Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are back on the team.

Rohit Sharma is going to lead India in this home series. He was good in some matches of the Asia Cup. We can expect that he will play the main role to handle the top batting order of India. Virat Kohli is back to good form after a very long time. He scored his 71st century against Afghanistan in Asia Cup. He is the other batter who had played a lot of matches against the bowlers of Australia and can perform well. Suryakumar Yadav will surely get a place in the final playing eleven for this match while KL Rahul is the other who is confirmed in the playing eleven. Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh were part of the bowling squad of India in Asia Cup and both bowlers had been dropped from this home series. Harshal Patel had been added to the squad.

Australia Reviews
Australia played its most recent T20 series against Sri Lanka back in June 2022 where they won the series with a margin of 2-1. The squad of Australia is almost the same as it was against Sri Lanka. We know that Aaron Finch had announced retirement from ODI cricket but he is playing T20 cricket for Australia and will be leading the side on this tour of India. Steven Smith is the other batter who will be opening the batting inning for Australia with Aaron Finch. Australia has a number of batting and bowling all-rounders in their squad.

Tim David and Glenn Maxwell are batting all-rounders in the Australian squad. Josh Inglis and Mathew Wade are wicket keepers in the Australian team. Australia has the services of the best bowlers. Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Kane Richardson, Adam Zama, and Nathan Ellis are leading bowlers of Australia while Ashton Agar, Cameron Green, Daniel Sams, and Sean Abbott are bowling all-rounders on the Ashes team.

India T20 History and Stats
India had played a total of 179 T20 matches where they won 117 matches and opposing teams won 57 matches. Their 5 matches ended with no result.

Australia T20 History and Stats
Australia had played a total of 162 T20 matches so far. They won 86 while other teams won 73 matches. 3 matches in Australia ended with no result.

Cat Leo

What Does Leo Mean? Stemming from the Latin word for lion, the name Leo dates back centuries. In German, it has its own translation, serving as a short version of Leon or Leopold most often and meaning "brave people" or "lion-hearted." In Spain, leo is a holy oil used for anointing in the church.

Leo name meaning and origin:

Lions are considered kings of the jungle, and we often associate the regal beast with leadership and dignity. This is one of the reasons why the name Leo, the Latin word for lion, has been a favorite of parents in the Western hemisphere for centuries.

This enduring popularity has given us countless notable figures named Leo (which is often used as a diminutive of Leonardo, Leopold, and Leon). Thirteen popes, four saints, and countless kings and emperors have held variations of the name. Famous Leos include Russian literary giant Leo Tolstoy, artistic master Leonardo da Vinci, and, of course, Oscar-winning actor Leonardo "Leo" DiCaprio.

Leo is also one of the twelve signs of the zodiac. People born between July 23 and August 22 are born under Leo, the fifth sign of the zodiac. The symbol for Leo is a loop and a curve that represents the head and mane of a lion. According to astrology, Leos are driven, compassionate, aware, and natural leaders.

Leo holds a prominent place in Greek mythology as well. The Leo constellation is associated with the Nemean Lion, a powerful foe of Hercules, whose golden fur was impossible to penetrate, and whose claws could pierce through any armor.

Leo's origins go all the way back to 700 B.C. with the creation of Latin by the earliest Romans (and perhaps even earlier, since Leo came from a Greek word meaning lion). It spread throughout Europe when Germans adopted Leo as a nickname for brave, "lionhearted" men. The variations Leopold and Leonhard took off in Germany and Leon and Leonardo gained footholds elsewhere in Europe. Still, Leo is the root name from which all the others grew.

The rugged history of the name Leo is softened by the way the vowel-heavy, two-syllable, three-letter name rolls off the tongue. Leo manages to be dignified but also modern and playful, which keeps the ancient name perennially relevant.

These days, Leo ranks in the top 50 on the Social Security Administration's list of baby boy names in the United States. It's even more popular among BabyCenter parents: On our list, it typically ranks in the top 20 boys' names. (BabyCenter's ranking is based on data from hundreds of thousands of parents who share their baby's name with us.)

The name's popularity has ebbed and flowed over the years, peaking at the turn of the 20th century, declining over the next 80 years.

Cat Oliver

Oliver is brave, caring, friendly, kind, and cute. At one point, Dodger feels Oliver is disloyal to the gang since he tells them he wants to return to Jenny's house, where he is loved and has a comfortable life, instead of staying with them despite admitting that he likes his dog friends.

Despite his external goodness, he is capable of getting angry, mostly when he feels betrayed, such as when he gets conned by Dodger out of some sausages that he helped steal and, therefore, to which he thought he was owed some of them as compensation. He is also shown to be very loyal and protective of those he cares about, as he jumps from Fagin's cart onto Sykes' car and bites the villain's hand after he grabs Jenny.

Additionally, he is shown to be rather intelligent and resourceful. During the opening scene with Dodger, he climbs up onto a girder, walks across it, and jumps down onto a no-pass barrier while Dodger is busy looking behind him. Also, he manages to get on several vehicles during the scenes on the streets with his dog friends just as they do, proving that he is a considerably fast learner.

Physical appearance
Oliver is a small and slender orange Tabby kitten with more long hair between his ears, three dark orange stripes on his back, and a white muzzle. About half-way through the film, he acquires a blue collar with his name and the address he lives at on a gold tag, thanks to his new wealthy owner, a kind and pretty little girl named Jenny Foxworth.

Oliver & Company

Oliver is first seen in a box in New York City on a street corner of 5th Avenue with eight other kittens who need homes, with the person selling them offering $5 for each one.

The other kittens are bought quickly by several interested customers, be they children or adults, but Oliver is left in the box alone, even when the person lowers the price and then even offers to sell Oliver for free.

One rainy night, after the seller has gone home to get some sleep and to get out of the storm, Oliver gets out of the box, after it gets filled up with water from a rain gutter next to it and torn into pieces due to the cardboard design getting so waterlogged, almost sending Oliver into a storm drain.

After nearly getting splashed from a passing car hitting a large puddle of rainwater as it roars down the street, scaring him, Oliver flees to find a dryer spot in an alley to sleep until the storm passes, but then, he comes across some vicious alley dogs who begin to chase him. Still, he manages to escape by jumping over a big chain-link fence. After which, he finds a dry place to sleep on the top of a Ryder rental truck's rear wheel.

Short-Haired Cats

Such a pseudo-breed is used for registry as well as shelter/rescue classification purposes. While not bred as show cats, some domestic short-haired cats are actually pedigreed and entered into cat shows that have non-purebred "Household Pet" divisions. Show rules vary; Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFe) permits "any eye colour, all coat colours and patterns, any coat length or texture, and any length of tail"(basically, any cat). Others may be more restrictive; an example from the World Cat Federation: "All classic colours are permitted. Any amount of white is permitted. The colours chocolate and cinnamon, as well as their dilution (lilac and fawn) are not recognized in any combinations (bicolour, tricolour, tabby). The pointed pattern is also not recognized. The description of colours is listed in the general list of colours.

Domestic short-haired cats are characterised by a wide range of colouring, and typically "revert to type" after a few generations, which means they express their coats as a tabby cat. This can be any colour or combination of colours. They also exhibit a wide range of physical characteristics, and as a result, domestic short-haired cats in different countries tend to look different in body shape and size, as they are working from differing gene pools. DSH cats in Asia tend to have a build similar to a "classic" Siamese or Tonkinese, while European and American varieties have a thicker, heavier build. Cats that didn't go through selective breeding are much less vulnerable to the genetic problems for which purebred cats must be carefully screened, due to their diverse gene pool.

Since freely breeding domestic short-haired cats form distinctive landraces in wide geographic areas, they have been the basis of several recent formal breeds such as the European Shorthair (Celtic Shorthair), and American Shorthair

Mahela Jayawardena offers Babar Azam

Babar’s form a concern

"The way Babar has been batting the last two years, for him to have a tournament like that is a concern,” Jayawardena told host Sanjana Ganesan on The ICC Review. “But I think he is still a quality player.
"Probably the occasion being, you know, part of an Asia Cup, and not that often that India-Pakistan play each other as well. So maybe the whole pressure got to him a little bit, I would say. But he is still a quality player.

"Pakistan did miss him with the bat because Rizwan and him at the top are a very, very consistent opening pair. The success of Pakistan over the last two years has been on that foundation, where all the big-hitters come in the middle and they (Babar and Rizwan) give that platform and they take it on.

"That’s something that they missed, but all good players go through some lean patch. I’m sure he will go back and go through his processes and come back stronger

KL Rahul Review

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma though was affirmative that KL Rahul will remain India's first-choice option at the top of the order. Speaking to the media ahead of India's T20I series against Australia, Rohit said, "He (KL Rahul) is a very important player for Team India. For us, I just want to make it clear, we are clear in our thought process.

"We do not have any confusion, we are very clear what KL Rahul brings to the table for us, he is a quality player and is very important for us. His presence at the top is very crucial for us," the Indian skipper said, backing Rahul.

Sharma though was open to the option of Kohli slotting in at the top of the order, claiming that he was the third opener in the squad.

"For us, we understand the quality of all our players and what they bring for us. But yeah, it is an option (Virat Kohli opening) for us, we will always keep that in mind.

"Since we have not taken a third opener, he opens for his franchise in the IPL and he has done really well, so it is a definite option for us," Sharma added.

Ponting also paid his respects to the way Kohli acknowledged his wife, Anushka Sharma, after making his century

Ponting also paid his respects to the way Kohli acknowledged his wife, Anushka Sharma, after making his century.

Kohli was quoted as saying after the match: “You see me standing here because one person has put things in perspective for me. That’s Anushka. This hundred is for her and for our little daughter Vamika as well.”

And Ponting admitted he would like to see more credit being paid to cricketers’ families for their efforts behind the scenes.

"It’s great to see him back in the runs. Great to see him back with a smile on his face. That’s the thing you know?” said Ponting.

“He was so happy, and I guess (he’s) relieved at the end of that game. He obviously spoke very fondly about his wife’s influence on the last couple of years of his life as well, which is also very nice to hear. A lot of that stuff goes unspoken about, in men’s sport in particular.

"Just the impact that your family and your very close ones have on you through your career. So it’s nice to hear that but also great to see Virat back in the runs again."

Ricky Ponting Reacts to Virat Kohli

Ponting shared his reaction to Virat Kohli equalling his tally of 71 international centuries before looking at if the India star can now surpass Sachin Tendulkar's daunting record of 100 centuries.
After 1,020 days, the wait for Kohli's 71st century finally came to an end during the Asia Cup. When he smashed a stunning 122* off 61 balls against Afghanistan, and in doing so equalled Ponting's record of 71 international tons.

Asked for his thoughts on his record – now the joint-second highest international century tally – being matched, Ponting said: “It was only a matter of time.”

Throughout Kohli’s barren run, Ponting was vocal in his support for the former India captain, even as plenty of former players called for him to be dropped.

Ahead of the Asia Cup, Kohli had taken a month-long break from cricket, making sure not to touch the bat during the break, something he conceded during an interview with Star Sports. He also opened up about his struggles with mental health during the period when he suffered a lean patch.

The break clearly helped as Kohli finished the Asia Cup as the second-highest run-scorer with 276 runs in five matches at a strike rate of 147.59, which included two fifties and a hundred.

"It’s (the century) taken a bit longer, the last couple of years because he has been in that century-making drought if you like, it has taken a bit longer to get to me than I thought it was going to.

“But look, he is obviously one of the all-time greats and there’s still a long time to go in his career. It was good to see him back in the runs.

Australia Tour of India 2022, 1st T20I

India take on Australia in a three-match T20I series as they build up to the T20 World Cup in a month’s time to be played in Australia. The three T20I games will take place on September 20, 23, and 25.

The first T20I will be played in Mohali. India and Australia last faced each other in 2020-21. During the tour, India played a T20I, ODI, and Test series against Australia. India lost the ODI series 1-2 but won the T20I series 2-1 and the Test series 2-1.

Australia are just coming off an ODI series win against the Kiwis. India, on the other hand, are fresh from a disappointing Asia Cup campaign. Both teams have a few key players missing. Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the series with covid. Meanwhile, for Australia, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis will miss the series with injuries.

Bruce Lee Short Bio

Short Bio

Bruce Jun Fan Lee (Lee Siu Loong) was born in 1940 in San Francisco, CA while his parents were on tour with the Chinese Opera. Ultimately raised in Hong Kong, Bruce Lee was a child actor appearing in more than 20 films. At the age of 13, Bruce took up the study of wing chun gung fu under renowned wing chun master, Yip Man
Bruce left Hong Kong at the age of 18, came to the United States and made his way to Seattle, Washington where he worked in the restaurant of a family friend. He soon enrolled in the University of Washington where he pursued a degree in philosophy. Bruce began to teach gung fu in Seattle and soon opened his first school, the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute. Two more schools followed in Oakland and Los Angeles. Concurrently Bruce married his wife, Linda and had his two children, Brandon and Shannon. In the mid sixties, Bruce was discovered while doing an exhibition at the Long Beach Internationals and a role as Kato in the tv series The Green Hornet soon followed. During this time, Bruce was also developing his own martial art, which he ultimately named Jeet Kune Do (translated: the way of the intercepting fist).
Bruce's art was steeped in a philosophical foundation and did not follow long held martial traditions. Instead it had at its core the ideas of simplicity, directness and personal freedom. After The Green Hornet series was canceled, Bruce encountered resistance while working in Hollywood and so headed to Hong Kong to pursue a film career. In Hong Kong he made 3 films, which consecutively broke all box office records and showcased martial arts in an entirely new way. Hollywood took notice and soon Bruce was making the first Hollywood / Hong Kong coproduction with a film called Enter the Dragon. Unfortunately, Bruce Lee died in 1973 before this film was released. This film catapulted him to international fame. Today Bruce Lee’s legacy of self expression, equality, and pioneering innovation continues to inspire people all around the world

Cats Traning and Insurance

Training:

The majority of a kitten’s education takes place during the first six months of their life. Most behaviour is acquired in the first three months, thanks to the predominant role of their mother and siblings.

That means that when you bring a cat home, you have a limited contribution to make to their basic education, but you still have responsibilities. Your job is to complete their training in their new environment and to address undesirable behaviour.

Insurance:

Insurance offers peace of mind that you will be able to provide the care your cat needs should a crisis happen.

Pet insurers offer different levels of cover, and prices vary according to your cat’s age, breed or size and type, as well as your location.
Find the right cover for you and your kitten by:

Using the internet to compare packages
Ask your vet
Look in pet magazines
It can be overwhelming at first to prepare for all the things needed to take care of your cat or kitten, but by starting properly you will help them adjust to their new home and maintain a happy and healthy life.

Getting to know their new family and any other animals, including cats and dogs, is a very important step in a kitten’s life, and preparing and managing that process carefully is key to their long term health and wellbeing.

Educating children on how to care for a cat
Cats are wonderful companions and can play an important role in teaching children about responsibility and looking after animals, but before bringing a cat or kitten into your home, it is important to educate children about their new pet.

Cats Health

Health
The health and wellbeing of your cat involves a wide variety of factors, from preventative vaccinations and tablets to insurance and even whether or not to neuter your pet. Some of these costs are isolated and others need to be considered as part of an ongoing budget alongside nutrition and grooming.

Cats are routinely vaccinated against feline panleukopaenia virus, feline herpesvirus and feline calicicirus. The vaccination course consists of two injections given three to four weeks apart. Your cat may have already had their first injection before they came to you as the first dose can be given from the age of about nine weeks.

Microchipping is the painless insertion of a microchip under the skin on the neck, and means that any vet or cat rescue organisation can ‘read’ the chip with a handheld scanner. Your vet can perform the procedure at any of your routine appointments.

It is important to prevent your cat from getting fleas, worms or ticks. A good breeder will have started an anti-parasite programme from the very beginning of the cat’s life and most rescue centres will also start a good worming and flea treatment regime for all of the animals in their care. It's important that you ask the person you are getting your kitten or cat from what treatments your new cat has had in the past.

Neutering is one of the most responsible decisions any pet owner can make. Cats have traditionally been neutered any time from around six months of age
It's important to arrange annual check-ups with your vet to help prevent any health issues and monitor weight and behavioural changes.

Cats Dental

Dental
Good oral health starts off when your kitten is young.

When they come home, kittens will still have their milk teeth. These baby teeth are quite fragile, so kibble needs to be softer and easier to break open than an older cat’s.
Some wet foods have been especially formulated for kittens with an excellent texture, adapted to their sensitive teeth
Toothbrushing is the gold standard for oral care, and using a special cat toothbrush and veterinary toothpaste is recommended.

Cats Grooming

Grooming

Apart from looking good, a brushed coat contains less dead hair, meaning less is available to be removed by your cat while grooming. This has its benefits as with grooming activity constituting an average of 30% of your cat’s time, it leads to ingestion of shed hair, leading to hairballs and sometimes digestive issues.

  • Cats with longer hair such as the Persian require careful untangling of the coat with a good-quality comb every day.
  • In short and flat hair cats (such as the Siamese or the Abyssinian), a few firm strokes of the hand is sometimes all that’s needed.
  • Passing a soft brush through the coat once a week is recommended for a medium- length coat or hair with a thick undercoat (such as in the Maine Coon or Exotic Shorthair).

Cats Feeding

Feeding:

For domestic cats, food intake depends on several factors. Cats prefer eating in a calm space, away from sight and predators, with a clear route of escape.

Only high quality foods, specifically prepared for cats can be guaranteed to provide all the nutrients they need to stay healthy, whatever their age, breed, lifestyle or sensitivities.
While we benefit from variety in our diet, frequent and continuous variation is not suited to a cat’s digestion
Feeding puzzles are an excellent way to mentally entertain your cat and encourage them to work for their food and exercise their hunting instincts
The hunting behaviour plays a large role in how cats eat, which is why they tend to consume multiple small meals throughout the day rather than in one or two large feeds
Cats have a very high requirement for protein including a number of essential amino acids, one of which is taurine, found naturally only in animal tissue
Fat is an important energy source for cats, with a greater proportion of daily calories provided by fats than is recommended for humans
Cats also have very particular vitamin and mineral requirements such as Vitamin D which they can only source it from their diet
As a newborn, your kitten’s digestive tract was perfectly suited to digesting milk specifically formulated for kittens, but their digestive capacities will change and by the time they come into adulthood they will no longer be able to digest lactose

Cats Environment

Environment is an important part of the health and wellbeing of your cat. A favourable environment is one in which the cat can become safely socialised without too many problems, and that helps them get used to the people and the things around them.

Even when it is very young, your cat will organise and mark out its territory. This is where it will sleep, play, hunt, feed, hide, climb and be cuddled. In its home, your cat organises its life around four different areas which you need to respect to avoid behaviour problems, particularly for indoor cats.

Feeding areas: These must be in quiet areas, away from its litter box and from your own eating area. It is better to avoid using the dining room or areas where they may be disturbed and allow your cat plenty of space when eating.

Resting area: The place will vary in the course of the day depending on the sunlight and sources of heat. By nature, cats like to sleep up high, and will often choose the spot that suits them most, so make sure they have plenty of free space to choose from.

Cleaning area: The litter box must be placed somewhere quiet and permanently accessible by your cat, away from its food bowl and places where there is a lot of coming and going. Be careful to avoid any source of stress: cats have been known to become unclean because the litter box was installed next to the washing machine. At least one litter tray per cat, plus one spare, is recommended to give each cat plenty of choice and avoid these issues.

Play area: This is your cat’s largest living space and relaxation area. It must be a place where it can race around, hide or perch high up. Cat trees are excellent accessories to encourage this activity and support your cat's health and wellbeing.

Cats Important Items

Important items

When you first bring your cat home, you will need the basics. These include:

  • Baskets: This means comfortable bedding where the kitten or cat will be comfortable and safe. Raise it off the ground, preferably, somewhere where the kitten will feel safe, away from any draughts or areas where there is too much coming and going.
  • Litter boxes: This needs to be deep enough and with a small shovel to remove the stool, although not too deep that kittens are dissuaded from using it.
  • Water bowls: A bowl of fresh water should be available to your cat at all times. Water fountains are available as an alternative to bowls as cats are known to particularly enjoy the movement and it encourages them to drink more.
  • Food bowls: You should ensure you have a small bowl for kibbles, placed far enough away from the water bowl to prevent it getting dirty. Alternatively, a feeding puzzle can be introduced, especially if you have an indoor car, to provide mental and physical stimulation, fulfilling their natural hunting instinct. With these puzzles, a transition period is necessary for your cat to learn how to use them.
  • A cat tree: An accessory that is both fun and useful for your cat and will allow them to scratch, climb and hide safely, and will contribute to the positive wellbeing of your cat by respecting their natural instincts.

It's recommended to get more than one of each item and disperse them around the home to offer your new cat choice and allow them to find a quiet space away from visitors or loud noises, should they need to.
